GnuPG is a complete and free implementation of the OpenPGP standard as defined by PGP. GnuPG, also known as GPG can be used as a command line tool for PGP.
GPG can be installed in Windows or Linux. Please find the instructions on how to install GPG below:








How to install GPG on Windows ?


For installing in Windows, you need to download the latest stable version of GnuPG for Windows and install it. Along with that, you would also want to install Thunderbird and Enigmail, which will make your task of sending encrypted email easier.

So, in short:
1. Install latest stable version of GnuPG for Windows.
3. Install Enigmail, which is an Add-on for Thunderbird.
 

How to install GPG on Linux ?


For Linux, if GPG is not already pre-installed or if it is not the latest version, you can install it easily. You would need to install couple of libraries, tools and optional software packages, along with GnuPG.

Here is the list:

1. Install the most recent stable version of GnuPG for Linux.

2. Download the following libraries : Libgpg-error, Libgcrypt, Libksba, Libassuan.
3. You may like to install Pinentrey.
Pinentry is a collection of passphrase entry dialogs which is required for almost all usages of GnuPG stable.
4. GPGME is a standard library to access GnuPG functions from programming languages.
5. GPA is a graphical front-end for GnuPG.
6.
Dirmngr is an optional tool for use with GnuPG stable.
